IE6 window size

I realize this doesn't really have much to do with IE6, but I figured I
would risk the flame and try posting. We try to optimize things for an
800x600 resolution, so I try to keep my browser window as close as possible
to this size. However, sometimes I accidentally resize my IE window or a
webpage messes with my "restore" size. I was wondering if there are any
known plugins that will display the current window size in the title bar,
status bar, whatever... just to save me some hassle. Opera has a feature
like this, but I only use it for testing purposes; is it possible to do this
with IE?

Tony,
Reset Browser Window Size:

Close all instances of Internet Explorer except for one.
Right-click on a link in the page and select: "Open in New Window"
Close the first browser window using the [ X ] (upper right corner)
Resize the second browser window manually by dragging the sides to the
desired size.
Note: Do NOT click the Maximize button, you *must* do it manually.
Hold down the Ctrl key and click the Close button (upper right)
Visit another web site, open a link in a new "window", it should now be the
desired size.
Note: some pop-up browser windows will alter this process if that is the
last one closed.
If that occurs again, you now can resolve this problem.

[Exception]
In some cases the "Remember last window size" info becomes corrupted in the
Registry.

Aye, I'm aware how to resize the browser window; I am trying to keep it at
exactly (or close enough for testing) 800x600, and I would like some
onscreen indication, if possible, as to the current dimensions of the
window. Manually dragging the window and eyeballing the size is not precise
enough for me.

Currently, every time I accidentally shift the window or a webpage modifies
it, I have to Show Desktop, bring the window back up (making sure it's the
only IE window open, thus closing all my other work), right-click Desktop,
change the resolution to 800x600, make sure the window fills as much of the
screen in an un-maximized state as possible, minimize, right-click Desktop,
select my desired resolution, click advanced, select my desired refresh
rate, click ok, and then reopen everything I was working on. There has to
be an easier way.

Any suggestions? Very doubtful, but maybe I can tweak the registry so that
the IE windows cannot be resized at all? Anything that would either ensure
that I could easily tell what dimensions the current browser window had or
freeze the size so I wouldn't have to worry about it.

I've found the free Autosizer from
http://www.southbaypc.com/free_utilities.asp to be very useful. Any"open in
new window" is automatically opened in full screen.

Unfortunately, this is kind of the opposite effect that I'm trying to
achieve. My desktop is 1280x1024, and I specifically don't want my IE
windows to be maximized, but rather in a windowed state as close to 800x600
as possible. As previously stated, Opera has a feature that displays the
current dimensions of the window in the title bar (i.e. "800:600 - Blank
page - Opera"), and I was hoping for some way to mimic this.

Found a solution to my problem. With a simple JavaScript string, one can
force a browser window to a specific size.

javascript:resizeTo(800,600);
moveTo(250,205);document.location.href='http://mail.yahoo.com'

This puts the window at the exact size I desire, moves to the center of the
screen (at least in my 1280x1024 res.), and goes to my homepage every time I
open up a fresh browser window or click the Home button. Huzzah.

Thanks for the information. I've needed something like this a few times
before but never solved it.
