IE6 takes while to run

I have found in the last few days that when I click on a shortcut to
"C:\Program Files\Internet Explorer\IEXPLORE.EXE", several seconds elapse
before the program runs.

Any ideas?

Try clearing your temp internet files and your history..

Tried that, still very slow.
Only when clicking on the program shortcuts though, hyperlinks, etc. seem to
start new instances immediately.
