IE6 restarts at will

My browser goes into Restart (not Shutdown, not RPC as in
Blaster worm) at inconsistent times - sometimes at the
very first click to bring up the homepage, at other times
I can visit 7 0r 8 different websites before this Restart
occurs.
I am running XP Pro, updated Nortons & updated Adaware6
and have checked video/graphic drivers and have tons of
RAM.
I tried using msconfig, but perhaps wasn't too skillful
with it - didn't solve anything!
Sending in an error report usually (but not always)
results in an OnlineCrashAnalysis saying I need a driver
for my cable modem (Motorola Surfboard). This hasn't led
to success either! The modem works perfectly, connects OK.

I've looked through quite a few posts, but can't find my
problem discussed anywhere. I've been to the Symantec
site & checked the threats for the last couple of weeks &
found no answers.

Would be very appreciative if there's any help out there
for my situation.

Is it IE restarting or you computer reboots?

If the later then it may be hardware problem cause possibly by heat.
Clean the fan on the back of your computer box. Make sure that the small fan
on your motherboard for the CPU is working correctly.

To make sure it not caused by some parasite, try this: Tools > Internet
Options > Advanced > Browsing
Uncheck the Enable 3rd party browser extensions

If this clears your problem then find out who the culprit(s) is/are with
these tools.

p.s Reset the 3rd party browser setting.

More: This may be caused by a third-party program (adware, spyware,
parasite).
Get AdAware and SpyBot and run them both. Keep them up to date.
