IE6 only working in safe mode

I'm running IE6 on XP Home. I have an ADSL router so I am accessing the
internet via the LAN.
IE6 works fine while in the PC is in safe mode so I presume all of the
network settings are fine but it does not work in normal mode. I only get
the message "Page cannot be displayed".

Can anyone suggest where to from here?

IE works (i.e., you can browse the 'net) in Safe Mode, or IE only opens in
Safe Mode?
