IE6 Internet Address Bar

When ever I try to manually type in an internet address in the address bar
nothing happens. The only way I can get to various sites is by going thru a
search engine and then clicking on the link. The only thing I can think of
that changed with my computer is loading Norton Internet Security.

Thanks,

Hi,
Disabling NIS (as a test) is worth a try. Before disabling the Norton
firewall, turn on the Windows Firewall (from Control Panel or Security
Center.)

This may be an autocomplete problem due to a corrupted History folder or
index.dat file.

CCleaner from http://www.ccleaner.com/ should be able to clear the History
and the index.dat file. Check those two boxes and run it.

Free History Eraser from
http://smartprotector.com/eraser/free-history-eraser.htm will delete the
History folder (and the index.dat file) and a new one will be created when
you restart.

Or the History folder can be deleted manually:

This may be a malware problem. Download, update and run Ad-aware, Spybot and
(if running WinXP) MS Anti-Spyware (Beta.)
