IE6 Installation Hasn't Passed Windows Logo Testing???

I have been having problems with Internet Explorer recently in that it has been giving me error messages and shutting down quite often. I tried updating IE but for some reason the Windows Update site told me there weren't any updates, so i tried a reinstallation. IE wasn't on the add/remove programmes list so I followed instructions on Microsofts website to uninstall it from using regedit. Then, when I downloaded IE6 from the Microsoft website, it tells me that it hasn't passed windows logo testing and can't be installed on XP, so what can I do to reinstall it? It looks like when it starts downloading it skips a bit. If anyone can help it would be very much appreciated
Thanks
