Windows Logo Testing Help!

hey guys..new poster here...i just bought the Sims 2 and i wanted to install
it but it asked me to install the new directx 9.0c so when i pressed yes to
it installing it for me it started downloading until a certain point...after
this point it would freeze and a box would pop up saying "The software you
are installing has not passed Windows Logo Testing to verify its
compatibility with Windows XP" now i have had a slight problem with this
logo thing but never as bad as this where i cant even download it...so i went
to microsoft.com and manually downloaded directx and pretty much the same
thing happens..i dont know how to turn it off or make it pass...i tried to
download a bunch of critical updates and service packs but they ALL fail to
install...can anyone help me?

Have you installed the latest drivers for your graphics card? Which
graphics card have you got?

i have a NVIDIA GeForce4 Ti 4200
im new at the computer stuff so i dont know how or where to go to update my
drivers...plus when i try to download things they get blocked by the logo
thing so i dunno...i even found out where to turn it to ignore and it STILL
doesnt work...heeeelllppp thanks

Have a look at the 'Driver Installation Hints' link.
