IE WON'T LET ME USE MCAFEE

I have had problems with internet explorer allowing mcafee to open.
There always pops up an error message and while there is a window open
nothing works. I tried disableing and inabling activex many times but
after that wouln't work I gave up. It's been about six months or longer
that mcafee won't open but because the firewall worked it didn't
matter. I recently got a new firewall program and it required me to
uninstall the mcafee firewall. I did and decided to uninstall all of
mcafee but when i go to add or remove programs and try uninstalling
Mcafee Security Center or McafeeVirus Scan i get

Internet Explorer Script Error
An error has occurred in the script on this page.
Line: 540
Char: 1
Error: Object expected
Code: 0
URL: mcp://c:progra~1\mcafee.com\agent\uninst\screm.ui::unstall.htm

Do you wan't to continue running scripts on
this page?
Yes No

If i push yes or no i get a window that says Mcafee Application
Installer but has only the option to restart or close. If I choose
restart i get the error again.

I have tried using the mcfee backup CD that came with my laptop (I
recieved McAfee with my Dell Laptop already installed) and i get the
same error. I've tried updateing IE even though i don't use Internet
Explorer (i use Mozilla Foxfire) and i've researched uninstalling IE
but have found no way to delete it completly nor do i know if i should.

I have also written Mcafee with no response nor do their chat or phone
employees help at all.
I've also tried programs advertised to remove script errors and none
have worked.
If anyone knows how to help i would appreciate it. My computer has
enough stuff on it that i need with a limited about of space. I could
use the space that Mcafee takes up for a program that works.

Hi Cream,
There is an option I hope it will work for you but this will require from
you edit the registry, so please *Back Up The Registry* and name the file
with name you can remember and in a location you can pin easily on your
computer so, open the Run Command and type regedit32.exe or regedit.exe press
OK and lock for every Key belong to McAfee and delete but please be sure it
is *McAfee* to make easy right Click on the Registry and select find and
type *mcafee* in the find box repeat until you have no keys left for mcafee
in the registry.
Close the Registry and then Do aquick scan for Malwares to be sure it is
clean. reboot, and clear any shortcut for mcafee.
please write back
Hope this helps

Thank you for that information i never would have thought to do that.
But McAgfee is still on my computer. If you have any other ideas?

Actually I went to Start, Search and Typed in McAfee. I then deleted
every thing that came up. One file wouldn't delete. And In add or
remove programs McAfee VirusScan remains. If you have any suggestions
it would be helpful.

Hi Obsidi,
Sorry for the delay,it was late night here.
It looks like McAfee have a legacy Drive in the registry, anway try this
link and delete all which will find for MCafee;
http://www.ccleaner.com
and Turn OFF the System Restore by Right Click on my computer>> Select
System Restore Tap and Check the Box to Turn the Sys Restore OFF and Reboot.
Alternatively you can go to McAfee help and support Forum/chat and ask them
politely how to uninstall McAfee from your System and hopefully your luck
come with nice person not the ones think they are working in Space Program!!
and give the help and support which should be for their Product.
Try to uninstall in Safe Mode too.
please write back and let su know
Good luck

Hey, thanks for writing again. And a big thank you for that link.
CCleaner is amazing. I get the same error when i try to uninstall
Mcafee VirusScan in safe mode and now in either mode add or remove
programs keeps freezing up and i have to close it using the task
manager. The help and support chat did nothing, they told me to do
things i already did or that i had a virus that messed up their
program. And While Mcafee Security Center is not in my add or remove
programs when i start up my comuter it starts up too. Basically McAfee
is still there taking up space. Any Ideas. How about trying to remove
IE? Should i do that and HOW? Any an all advice is appreiciated.
