IE version - revisited

Alan

, I knew that <G>. My version is
6.0.2800.1106.xpsp2.0310422-1633

This is actually a higher (later) version than what's on
MS web-site. Reason I ask is that in my Favorities window,
placing mouse pointer over an item whites it out. I'm
thinking if I roll back to 6/sp1, this will go away.
Problem is I can't. I download the latest, but when I go
to install, Windows tells me I have a later version, and
it stops the install. Can I remove IE and re-install? and
if I do this, do I lose all my favorites/settings? Thans a
bunch.

Running XP Home edition, what version of IE should I have?
or does it make a difference?
