IE status bar gone

I'm using IE 6 SP1 with XP Home SP1. I'm online quite a bit, and just
a few minutes ago, I noticed the IE status bar was gone. It is turned on by
default, and still is. I closed out IE, and turned it back on. Now the
status bar is back. Just curious to know what caused it to disappear in the
first place.
