IE Shutting down

I have been continually getting a message that Internet
Explorer has encountered an error and needs to shut down.
Then a box asking if I want to report this to Microsoft?
When I try to click on the details button, IE shuts down
before I can see the details. I did however, get a
glimpse of something that said that it involved Java. How
do I correct this problem?

There's a good possibility that this is being caused by a third-party
program (adware, spyware, parasite).
