IE shortcut

I did a succesfull XPSP2 repair install on my PC. Strange enough, now I
need to open IE through start>programs> internet explorer, because when I
hit the IE icon on my desktop it just generates a IE shortcut icon but
doesn't open IE as it did before. Thanks for any help to get rid of this
strange behaviout.

Hi,
Right click the icon and select Properties from the drop down list.
On the Internet Explorer Properties Window click on ShortCut Tab and make
sure these settings are correct:

Target : [ "C:\Program Files\Internet Explorer\IEXPLORE.EXE" ]


Start In: [ %HOMEDRIVE%%HOMEPATH% ]

Shortcut Key: [ None ]

Run : [ Normal Window ][v]


Comment : [ Finds and displays information and Web sites on the Internet.]

Click [OK] and Hit F5 then try to Open/Launch the IE.
If still no Joy Delete this shortcut and do the following:
Click Start >> All Programs >> IE and Right click and create shortcut or
Copy and paste on your Desktop.
