IE Information bar is missing from the iWon web site

I have used iWon as my home page for quite some time. I recently downloaded
SP2 for XP Home. I can no longer play the iWon prize machine. When I click
the icon, I get a message telling me to click the information bar to download
active x. There is no information bar at that time. Please click the link to
see what I am describing. The bar appears at other times, but not at all with
the iwon prize machine.

You could add iWon to your list of trusted sites in IE.

In IE go to Tools...Internet Options
Then go to the Security tab
Click on Trusted Sites
Click on Sites
Then type http://*.iwon.com in to the text box and click Add

You might also need to make sure that the check box on the bottom of the
screen is unchecked.

iWon hijacker /is/ the problem!

1. Uninstall SP2.

2. Address the removal of iWon and reset your homepage.

3. Check for and remove any other hijackware:

4. Reinstall SP2 and post-SP2 updates.

Agreed, but obviously he likes it and wants it as his home page. BTW, I
don't think you need to uninstall SP2 to get rid of it.

1.. Uninstall "Co-Pilot - iWon" and "iWon Prize Machine" using the
Add/Remove Programs utility.
2.. Run a full system scan and delete all the files detected as
Adware.IWon.
That should clear it, but he wants it, per his post, so my advice would be,
if you really do want this thing, uninstall first as above, then go to the
Iwon web page and download it again.

I tried your suggestion, but it did not work. I am going to continue using
the iWon home page, but will not use the prize machine or the iWon co-pilot.
I never won anything in three years with the prize machine anyway. Thanks for
trying to help me though. I know I am not going to go to the trouble of
uninstalling SP2 and then re-install SP2!!!!
Thanks,
David
