Hello,
I have one machine that is behaving very oddly, IE6 and
W2K. When opening IE to a any page other than about:blank
using a desktop shortcut, options home page, or using a
favorite for the first time in a session, the system
generates an error saying "Application Failure
iexplore.exe 6.0.26.00.0 in unknown 0.0.0.0 at offset
7c4f16b4." I have read some similar reports here and have
tried to uninstall and reinstall IE, MS Office, the TCP
Stack, and any IE related toolbars (IWON) and plugins. I
have also ran Spybot & Adware, have TrendMicro OfficeScan
running
and current, and uninstalled anything not directly related
to our business. I have even strolled through the
registry trying to find the possibility of a
rouge "RunOnce" key somewhere. Still no luck.
Oddly, what does work is about:blank as the options home
page. Then I type any url in the address bar, press
enter, and things seem to be back to normal, even
favorites and desktop links. Very puzzling. The system
is up to date on all available SPs, Hotfixes, IE updates,
etc. Can someone shed some light on this for me? TIA
