IE displays websites that i havent visited

The OS i use is windows xp home
I have the IE-6 set to about:blank a few days back i
visited a mp3 download site(went through google) now
everytime i start IE i get the name of some website
displayed in the address bar(http://my.search/hp.php) and
it automatically adds 7 or 8 other websites that i havent
visited and also saves a few webpages in the favourites
folder in the IE.
I have tried many things including setting the page
again to about:blank in the control pannel->internet
options->general tab but it does not work ive tried
modifying contents in regedit H_KEY_CURRENT_USER-

software->microsoft->internet explorer->main. Here i set

homeoldSp to about:blank
searchbar to about:blank
searchpage to about:blank
startpage to about:blank
But no matter what i do it just keps going back to the
website in the address bar.The searchbar,searchpage and
startpage in regedit modifies automatically to
http://my.search/hp.php, even after i have changed it to
about:blank

This is really irritating as everytime i start IE i get
this website in the address bar and the page says "this
page cannot be displayed" please help.

Hi, Had the same problem. I use Ad-Aware 6.0 with the
latest reference files installed. A good, honest supported
application. Do a deep scan on C: then another scan in
your local registery. Delete all temporary internet files
too. If you look in your program files folder you should
see the 'mysearch folder' as well as another suspicious
folder. I just deleted mine but only after a reboot and
local memory scan (propagated by adaware). Otherwise, the
program will again load into your local memory and you
will not be able to delete those suspicious folders. Had
the same problem with the reverting back to mysearch.com
address think i solved it by changing the homepage option
in tools-internet options. I'm fed up with these
parasites. Stuff like mysearch and other such parasitical
programs are usually downloaded in trojan form attached to
other files you have have download or sites you may have
visited. Watch what you are downloading! Good Luck
