Downloading from site: about:blank

A petty question - why does the status bar in IE 6.0 show "Downloading from site: about:blank" when a URL is entered in the Address bar & before any part of the website downloads, the "Tab" key is pressed? This happens only when the home page of IE is set to about:blank!
