I am getting "Microsoft has encountered a problem and must
shut down" then lists approx 50 .dll files, I am getiing
this on almost every website. I can get to messengers. I
have win 98se. I have tried reinstalling IE. no help.
Any ideas?

i'm sure microsoft has a few problems, but maybe your
windows os needs a clean reinstall, sounds like its
messed up. or you can do a repair from your disk.

Please give a better description of your error message.
Are you getting an Error Message window as depicted here:

<title>KB276550 - Description and Availability of Internet Explorer Error Reporting Tool</title>

If so you may have gone too far into that message's details.
Use its <click here> link, but once there just capture the text
under the Error Signature. Drag the text with your mouse
and press Ctrl-c to copy it to the Clipboard.

If you are not getting that message perhaps you should try
enabling Error Reporting (e.g. do the reverse of the procedure
given in that article for disabling it--essentially just give that
IEWatsonEnabled DWORD a value of 1 or just delete it and
it default to that). Otherwise you may want to try reposting in a
newsgroup which specializes in your OS in case they are more
familiar with whatever it is that you are seeing.
