IE 7 Beta 1 Installation

Hello,

I am trying to install IE7 Beta 1 on Win XP Sp2.

When I go through the wizard, I get the error:
Setup was not able to automatically validate your copy of Windows.

Then it opens Microsoft's website and I get the Validation Error:
[0x80080299] Validation Incomplete: Unable to Perform Validation
You have encountered an unknown error. Please contact your local product
support team for further assistance with this issue.

My Windows is actually valid because if I go through Windows validation
myself, I get thank you for using genuine windows straight away.

I also tried on my Genuine Windows laptop and got the same problem.

Can anyone help me install IE7?

Thanks for your help.

As IE 7 is in Beta anything can happen. Where did the original IE 7.0 beta
download come from?
If you don't have a test machine then it is 'not' wise to run beta software.
There are a lot of things that can, and will, go wrong and you may have to
reinstall your whole system again.
I have IE 7.0 running on two test machines (running xp and vista) and i
haven't had any problem installing it.

I wouldn't install a beta if I have no access to the private ngs

I am not saying that this is the case with you but there is a few ways to get around Windows Validation when downloading from MS sites. It always say's" thank you for using genuine windows" straight away when done.

Another story if XP is not Validated with a legal Install key. Trying to install this IE7 Beta on a machine with the wrong XP install key will do this. I have seen this issue numerous times posted in a lot of different groups. Especially in the Eastern European and Asian groups.

IE7 Beta does an excellent job on picking up the wrong XP CD key.

Davood, IE 7.0 Beta hasn't gone public yet so i assume you downloaded it
from a site other than the official microsoft beta site (to which you have
no access). The contents of any 'workaround' for problems etc remain private
between developer's, beta testers, MVPs and Microsoft and, as such you are
not likely to get an answer to your question from anyone within the beta
program. Well not without that person risking legal action from Microsoft.

You're bucking up against two problems:

1. Flawed MS Validation BS where anything can go wrong for no apparent
reason with a valid XP install.

2. Installing a Beta product, a not-ready software where once again
anything can go wrong. Beta is for testing, not production or to be
relied on for daily use.

Excuse me, but nearly everyone who responded to Davood's question i
an idiot.

He was asking how to resolve the problem - not a lecture on th
stability of beta software or whether or not you had problems – jus
a solution to his problem

Object, as IE 7.0 is still in 'private' beta he got the correct answer to
his question. The beta test is 'private' therefore any workaround is also
private. When the beta goes public, then workarounds can be openly
discussed. Until that time the doors are closed.

ain't, and it is totally an off-topic subject for this group.

I agree with kurttrail. I'm pretty sure that if you want to use a
beta, then you WILL DO IT anyways. Did you people ever stop to think
for a second that maybe some people would want to use a beta. DERP!
Maybe they even have an older system to test it on. Like me for
instance. I am having the same problem as Davood. Can anybody who
knows how to get past validation please help me. Thanks a lot. And I
understand completely what BETA means, so please tell me anyways.
Gosh. How hard can it be. lol

Then become a beta tester and post to the beta newsgroup. There is no
support here for Beta products.

This discussion is asinine..

First of all, EI 7 is not a private beta - it is available to anyon
who has an MSDN subscription. See below..

But that is beside the point. Searching the web reveals that this is
common problem for many people. This is a public forum available fo
people to get help from the community.

However, it seems that the community here is more concerned wit
enforcing their opinion that beta means that there will be problem
that one must just accept and live with..

OK, I have been able to reproduce and resolve the problem. The proble
seems to be with an older version of en_IE7_B1_4_XPSP2.ex

The differences between the versions are very slight. Examining th
Signing Time of the Digital Signature reveals a difference betwee
the versions

Digital Signature Singing Time, Older Versio
Wednesday, July 27, 2005 1:10:05 A

Digital Signature Singing Time, Newer Versio
Tuesday, October 18, 2005 7:59:42 P

With the older version, un-installing and attempting to re-instal
results in the following error: Validation Incomplete: Unable t
Perform Validation

However, re-installing the newer version should prove to b
successful. It worked for me

The newer version can be acquired from MSDN Subscriber Downloads
