ICS to forward ports?

Chuck

I'd like to access my ISP's usenet server from work but they only allow
access to it from within their network. My Home PC is in their network,
but the PC at work is not. The home PC is running XP Home. The work PC
is running XP Pro.

I already have an OpenVPN tunnel between the two machines with the Home
PC being the server. (Had to use OpenVPN because Windows' VPN wouldn't
let me specify a port # that was open on the firewall at work). Can I
just enable ICS on the home PC and then somehow route NNTP traffic
through it to the ISP's usenet server? If so, how?

Thanks

Chuck

Actually your requirements are simpler than that. All you need on your home
PC is a portmapper. You can get one from http://analogx.com

You need to map a port you can access to port 119 on the news server.
Probably best to restrict access to be only from the work site's outside
IP-address to stop others using it.

For example the entry might be:
Local Port: 80 Maps To: newsserver.com:119

Do bear in mind though that this may be against the company's AUP policy.
Many firms prohibit the use of news, MSN, ICQ, etc because they are so often
used for timewasting purposes. Also, because you can bypass the restriction
with a bit of chicanery doesn't mean the sysop can't tell you're doing so.
