newbie vpn file sharing question

I have an OpenVPN connection from my PC at work (XP Pro) to my PC at
home (XP Home). The home PC is the server and the work PC is the client.
What do I need to do to be able to access all files on my hard drive at
home from work with the same permissions I'd have if I were working on
the home PC?

BTW is there a way to change the port # that the MS VPN uses? I went
with OpenVPN only because I could configure the port it uses to 443
which is one of only three that are open on my company's FW.

A VPN connection essentially makes you a node on the same network as your
home PC. So, what you get is network access as distinguished from local
access (what you get with RDP) to the home PC's resources. In order to
access resources by VPN on the home PC, you need to enable file and printer
sharing, then you share the folders you want the VPN client to be able to
access.

No, as far as I know, you cannot change the MS VPN port numbers. Port 443
is normally used for SSL (https://) access. I'm not sure your company is
pleased that you are doing this.

Why would they be unhappy about this? The home network is secured, the VPN
is secured (SSL w/ certificate authenticated), and there is no network
bridging.
