VPN question

Hello!
I have succesfully set up a WinXP to WinXP VPN.
My server is the office PC, and my client is my home PC.
I can connect fine from home to my server PC at the office. However, I would
like to be able to access shared files on other PCs on the Office Network.
What to do?
Thanks in advance,
Albert C

Can you ping the other office PCs from home while connected to the office
VPN server? If so you can use the form \\office.IP.address\share to access a
shared folder on those PCs.

Example...

\\12.34.56.78\SharedDocs

Another method is to use a lmhosts file that maps the office computer names
to their IP address. Here is an example of an lmhosts file for my home
LAN...

Then you could use the form \\PCName\share to access a shared folder.

Example...

\\AlbertsotherofficePC\SharedDocs

Remote Desktop to a server in the office.

In [Network Connections] open you VPN connection settings and check if
Client for Microsoft Network is checked. You may also want to enable File
and Printer sharing for the VPN interface too.

Also in [Network Connections] click Advanced and then Advanced Settings. You
may try to assign a higher priority for the VPN connection.

Also check if your firewall is set to allow File and Printer Sharing.

Disconnect and reconnect, and see if it works.

c/
Is your VPN server configured properly? A VPN server also functions as
NAT/router/firewall and may block some of the traffic.

Good Luck!
