I downloaded the Microsoft Malicious Software Removal Tool and it is now on
my desktop with a "blank sheet" icon. How can I change the appearance of the
icon?

Hello,

you could try the following: Create a shortcut to the program on the
desktop, and set the property of the original exe file to Hidden. Then,
right-click the shortcut, click tab "Shortcut" and click "Change icon..." .

Hope this helps you.

If you are describing a Desktop Shortcut icon, right-click the icon and
select Properties. Click the "Change Icon" button. Select a new icon.

Some applications do not have an icon embedded in the executable file. In
such a case Windows sets the default icon for an "Unknown file type".

If an application is supposed to have an icon then the file association
registry keys have either not been set or are incorrect. In that case
reinstall the application to fix the file association problem.
