finding Favorites shortcut icon

J

Jo-Anne

Using WinXP. I had a problem a while back getting certain desktop shortcuts
to open with Folders displayed. I was told to right-click on the desktop
shortcut icon, click on Properties, and add to the front of what's in the
Target box the following:

C:\WINDOWS\explorer.exe /e,

That has worked perfectly, but it always changes the desktop shortcut icon.
I've been able to restore the standard icons by clicking on "Change Icon"
and choosing from the ones displayed.

Today I added the above command to the Favorites shortcut I had created on
the desktop. However, the star-shaped icon for Favorites does not appear in
"Change Icon." Apparently, I'll need to browse to find it. My question is:
Where does it reside?

Thank you!

or Tiny URL http://tinyurl.com/3f82zcg

download it and place it wherever you want.

Probably inside a Dll file, You need a Icon browser to get that
but there is a lot of icons here:
http://www.iconarchive.com/search?q=favorite&page=1

But have You tried holding Ctrl and Shift while You drag
the Favorite menu to the Desktop that should give You
a shortcut the way Windows want to make it.
You can also right drag it and chose the action from the
menu when You release it over the desktop (No ctrl and shift here).

Best regards

Thank you, JD! That did it! I'll save your post in case this happens
again.

My apologies for the multiple posts. The post kept sitting in my Outbox, and
I kept cancelling it. Apparently it was being sent without my knowledge. (I
show only one response in my Sent Items folder.)

Thank you, Asger-P! I tried JD's suggestion, and it worked--but I'll hang
onto your post for future reference.
