I need help!!!

My other computer was left on all night and when I went to use it, it seemed
to be locked up. So I tried to restart the computer but it wouldn't do
anything. I had to hold the power button down in order for it to restart.
When it came back up, it only got to the blue welcome Windows XP screen and
that is far as it will go. I tried manually shutting down the computer and
put the windows xp cd in but it does the same thing and only goes to the blue
windows screen. I tried entering in the safe mode and it did the same thing.
I can't get past the blue welcome windows xp screen. Does anyone know how to
fix this problem? Everything I've tried didn't work.

You can first try unplugging all external hardware, printers, scanner, etc,
and then reboot.

If that fails, then, here is another thought. When you tried Safe Mode,
did you get to the Safe Mode Welcome screen, or the ordinary Windows Welcome
screen?

And, as far as using the cd, do you know if you have the BIOS set to boot
from the cd?
