Help - Stuck in Restart Cycle

N

I am running XP on an Acer Desktop. Overnight the computer had frozen on the
blue "windows is shutting down" page, although a shutdown hadn't been
initiated. I held the power button to get the computer to shut down, so I
could then restart. When I then tried to restart, the desktop loaded but
after a few seconds it disappeared and the restart process began again. I
tried many more times and the same thing keeps happening. I then unplugged
the box and replugged it in to try again. Still the same. I'm stuck in an
endless restart, shutdown, restart cycle. HELP!!!

First of all, have you changed any software, or hardware drivers lately?

Tap F8 right at power on, and from list of startup options, select Safe Mode.
If you can get there, either try Last Known good Configuration, or do a
System Restore.

Start >Programs> Accessories >Sysyem Tools > System restore to yesterday's
date..

Is there a Stop Error Message?

Disable automatic restart on system failure. This should help by
allowing time to write down the STOP code properly. Keep pressing the F8
key during Start-Up and select option - Disable automatic restart on
system failure. Do not re-enable automatic restart on system failure.
Check for variants of the Stop Error message.

Hope this helps.
