I have no logs in the Event Viewer: do I have a corrupt file somew

no matter how many times I reboot the windows 2k prof workstation, no matter
how many times I clear the existing logs (sec, applic and system), referesh,
reopen the event viewer window, the logs do not appear. I also restored the
event viewer defaults, thinking may be I changed something in the past, but
that did not help either.
I am not able to troubleshoot problems like this, as I am unable to see what
has been logged (if anything).
At some point I did see that in the system logs, it showed me some kbytes of
content (in the status bar) and I did see that I was "offered" to scroll
down, as if I had the complete list of events in front of me, but I don't.
There is nothing to see in the right screen, only in the left screen there
are the 3 main log types.
Any help please?
Thanks, Eric.

The files may be corrupt. Control Panel|Services|Event Log Service|General,
set the "Startup Type:" to "Disabled" restart the pc, then delete (or move)
the corrupt SysEvent.Evt, SecEvent.Evt, or AppEvent.Evt from
%systemroot%\system32\config then set the Event Log Service "Startup Type:"
back to "Automatic", restart for effect.

Always try the MS KB first before posting.

And the answer could have already been posted, so try searching this and other newsgroups first.
