I have a unread mail message

I turned my computer on and right next to my name is has
a message saying that i have a unread mail message and i
looged into the computer and onto the internet and still
i have that message that i have an un read mail message
so where should i look to find this mysterious un read
mail message?

Are you getting other messages? We have been having problems with our
emails not downloading...ie 5 of 12 etc and then it hangs up. Well it
turned out it was the modem. Replaced that and it was fine thereafter.
