Hung App with IE7

P

Paula Allton

running XP Pro SP3

System error log shows that my hung apps are coming from IE7. I installed
the latest IE7 update on the 18th. All Windows updates are installed and up
to date. "Coincidence" tells me the lates IE7 update is causing the
problem.

Has anyone else had similar issues?

I was dragged kicking and screaming to install 7 anyway. My computer
repairperson insisted IE7 was not a problem. I was happy with 6. And
earlier issues with 7 made me stay away.

Do problems with 7 still exist? Can I uninstall the last update and leave
it at that?

Thanks for any 'guidance'.

IE7, including the recent patch, work fine for me, with all applications
that use IE7.

Is it possible that your specific application needs a newer version, if it
was originally intended for IE6?

Be aware that Microsoft does NOT guarantee backward compatibility with all
possible applications when they release a new version of anything. In fact,
it is more likely the case that one or more older applications will fail
with a new version of a Microsoft product. That is often why IT
organizations do extensive testing, before installing new versions and/or
patches. Contact your IT group.

I just upgraded from IE6 to IE7 with XP Home SP3. I had been using IE6 for
ages and resisted doing the IE7 upgrade.

All the hung application problems and weird things that were occuring with
IE6 (compared to Firefox 3) are gone!
