HTML Help doesn't work anymore ("Action cancelled")

I can no longer use the F1 help function in several programs, such as Visual
Basic 6.0, but also in Internet Explorer and Windows Media Player.
I've found and read the article: http://support.microsoft.com/kb/892675/
"HTML Help features may not work after you install security update 896358 or
security update 890175", which seems to describe my problem.
However the proposed workaround:
REGEDIT4
[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\HTMLHelp]
[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\HTMLHelp\1.x\HHRestrictions]
"MaxAllowedZone"=dword:00000001

doesn't make any difference. My local ICTN helpdesk proposes a complete new
installation, but I'd like to avoid that.
Can anybody tell me if there is some other (registry) setting, which need to
be altered?
Thanks in advance,

Well it seems I've solved my own problem, based on an entry in this
discussion group (dd 12/29/2005, about .hlp & .chm files).
Suggestion was made to delete hh.dat in:
%userprofile%\Application Data\Microsoft\HTML Help

That did't help, but.. I found in that directory also a subdir & file:
"1033\msdnvs6a.chs"

I deleted that file, and my problem was solved!
Just want to post this here for anyone else who might encounter this...
