HP G85 software for XP

My son got the HP G85 printer. He is running XP. The disc that I have for
the printer supports: 98, 95, Me, 2000 & NT. I downloaded the XP driver from
HP's site. After installing, their is no HP Director software or any
software to use the scanner, fax etc. Anyone know how can I get the software
for XP to access the scanner, fax, etc.?

The file is A140609_ENU_XP.exe, about 40 MB, at the HP site.

I have used this file on several XP machines satisfactorily.

Be sure to uninstall all previous G85 software. In fact, there are other HP
software items that may conflist, so the installation process will look for
conflicts and uninstall them as well.

That is the file that I did install. The printer works for printing, but
there is no "HP Director" software to access the scanner. Any idea what I
am doing wrong? To uninstall the file that you mentioned that I did
install, should I just go to "add/remove programs"?

Thanks for the help.

Edited to add: I did not install the original disc that came with the
printer because it did not have the drivers for XP, I only installed the
file that you mentioned.
