HP Jetdirect 2552A upgrade

Hi, i´ve got an HP Laserjet 5 with Jetdirect 2552A interface. The
windows firmware upgrade software (HP Download manager) says i can
upgrade to firmware A.08.49 (A.05.05 now), but when i actually tries
to do that, it´s over in three seconds, says it was successful but
did nothing. (i switched the printer off and on afterwards, its the
same old firmware.)

Any ideas?

I found this webpage

http://www.vangeyn.net/j255x/

but the software doesn´t work on win7/64bits.

Ooooops...

The actual Firmware for the J2552A is Version = A.05.05

There is no update. This JetDirect is VERY old. From the days of
10Mb/s and thin-net ethernet.

Jounger than the Laserjet 5 it is in, which is from 1995 or so. That
one was originally sold with J2550A. Kid might not even be out of
school yet. ;-)

But i find it strange that the update software claims to have an
update, but the jetdirect card knows better and that it wouldn´t fit
and just silently drops it.

Well, nevermind. i just hoped to get dhcp to work. Our network
administration frowns on static addresses.

One of mine is working fine with DHCP. The other has a static address.
