HP 2420 printer with IP

I'd install the printer driver at the server and everyone can connect
to the server and print through it.

But I do have one question, since it's a network printer, can I print
without go through the server? Let's say the server is down, but the
network is till up and I want to print to the printer. Is it possible
to print straight to it? Do I need to get the driver of the printer
installed in my laptop? Or I can straight away print without getting
the CD driver installed?

I can access to the printer interface through "http://printer_ip" and
configure the printer settings.

You sure can !

Change the port to the "Standard IP" port.

start --> settings --> printers

Highlight the printer in question, Right Click and choose "Properties"

Ports --> add ports

BTW: while this capability is not native in Win98-WinME, you can add it by installing the
"HP Install Network Printer Wizard".
