HP 1200 printer

Hi, have a problem with a HP 1200 printer that is connected to the dot4 port
of a laptop. There is problem when an excel 2002 file is sent to this
particular laptop to print. The same file prints in 1 page exactly on a
system running winxp pro with HP 1100 printer. But the same file prints into
6 pages on the system with the HP 1200 printer, which is on winxp pro
platform with office 2003.

I tried adding the same HP 1100 printer into the printer list for the
laptop. The output is in 1 page. And I tried deleting the HP 1200 printer
and then re-add the same HP 1200 printer.

So this should be a problem with the HP 1200 printer? Or the dot4 port?
Cause I thought all printers are using LPT1?

Please help,

Elsie

It sounds like a driver issue, you might want to check the HP website for
the latest drivers for your printer. If you have the latest drivers or that
doesn't resolve it, you might try contacting HP tech support.

USB printers do not connect to LPT1, parallel port printers connect to LPT
ports.

I checked the wire from laptop to printer... its using serial port...so how
does a dot4 port look like?

I tried this: 1) open the same file at the source location. go to page setup
and set the paper size to A4 and save. 2) email file to destination. 3) the
output is ok.....

Think this way does not sound professional...

ps: I tried a test page... which prints out ok... so does this mean that the
printer driver is ok?

Just proves the test page is ok. Did you see if there was an updated
printer driver from HP? It's surely a printer driver flaw which may or
may not have been fixed by HP.

Hope this is useful to you. Let us know.

jus 1 problem.... why are there so many versions for hp 1200? which should I
use? pcl5 or pcl6?

hp LaserJet 1200/1220 PCL 5e driver
HP LaserJet 1200/1220 PCL5e, PCL6, PS Driver Bundle
HP LaserJet 1200/1220 PCL5e Point and Print Bundle
hp LaserJet 1200/1220 PCL6 driver
HP LaserJet 1200/1220 PCL6 Point and Print Bundle

I don't know HP's product line or their product naming strategy. I
would *guess*& that the "PCL 5e driver" or "PCL6 driver" would be what
I'd try. Driver bundle sounds to big. Call HP and ask them.

Hope this is useful to you. Let us know.
