I'm logged on as a local user. I installed the Antivirus by myself. I worked
with "File System Real-time Protection" turned off for 4,5 years and our
company didn't have any problems because of my computer!

Even so, from here it doesn't seem a good idea to override your org's
stated systems policy. Even if nothing goes wrong, it comes across as
reckless if it ever shows up on radar.

What I'd prolly do is bitch up a storm about the performance drop,
making the point that you anticipate changing av settings will fix
this, until there's pressure on IT admin to do something about it.

But you know your context; it's your call.

This sytem he's got, one of the new features is it can be set to auto reenable real time scanning if it's disabled after a certain time.

Moving 7,000 files of 100 kb in size to a CD-ROM drive takes about a minute
without the "Real-time protection". But with "Real-time protection" it takes
about an hour! The files and the "Windows" folder are on the same drive. All
the files appear in "File System Realtime Scan Statistics"> "Last file
scanned" while being moved.

Yes. It is possible for me at my level of system access to exclude certain
file types from scanning. I added ?, ??, ???, ???? "extensions of files
types I want to exclude from scanning", but "File System Realtime Scan"
still scans files without an extension.
Check marks disappear in "Select Items" window in "Files/Folders" in "Set
Exclusions" after clicking "Ok" in "Select Items" window.
