how to turn OFF some disliked View UI features ??

I'm using Outlook 2003, and I simply don't like the "Reading Pane" feature
(on the view menu) and the "Show in Groups" feature on the View-Arrange By
menu.

I see that I can manually turn these off on a folder-by-folder basis, but
between private and public folders, I have access to *hundreds* of folders,
and the prospect of doing this manually on each folder is particularly
dismal. Is there any way to just turn these off for all folders? If not, I
suppose I'll try to write a VBA macro to accomplish it.

Also, when ever I create a folder (or first get access to a public folder),
I get the default view, which includes the Reading Pane and Show in Groups
features described above, and has the "Received Date" column displayed.
Personally the received date is useless to me (my replies have a null
received data), but the Sent Date is invaluable. So I immediately remove
Received column add the Sent column, and turn off the "Reading PAIN" and
Show in Groups (both of which I find distracting and a waste of screen real
estate). But I have to do this manually. Is there a way to configure the
default view so that new folders will be displayed the way I like them
without manual intervention?

Thanks!

To change the default view redefine it in;
View-> Arrange By-> Current View-> Define Views...
