Hi,
I am having problems with my PC running XP SP3. It has started getting
pop ups alot of the time for various things from casinos to Wiliam Hill
bookmakers. I have turned on the pop up blocker on IE but i still seem to
get pop ups. I have even set the blocking level to high, still i get pop ups.

In the trusted stes area where pop ups are allowed i have only go microsoft.
The strange thing is that something keeps turning my pop up blocker off. I
have cleared up my c drive, defragged it and run spybot (this is usually all
i use along with my McAfee firewall). I still seem to be getting pop ups.

Any suggestions on how i can stop this?

Any help is greatly appreciatted, thanks in advance.

Colin

So far for me, the best browsing solution to combat pop ups is Firefox
with the Adblock Plus Extension.

You can install it, try it, use it, not use it, uninstall it if you
don't like it and also keep your IE if you desire.

Microsoft IE is not in the pop up blocking business, it is more like a
side show ;)

Turn off Flash and Java scripting, for starters. Sounds like you have
some malware running in the background.

Malware infection.
... and run spybot

Have you updated it? What ELSE have you ran on your host to scan for
malware? No single anti-malware has 100% coverage so overlapped coverage is
required. How did you get the McAfee firewall installed without also
installing their anti-virus component (whether its on-access scanner is
active or not)? Seems you have another anti-virus scanner available in
McAfee. You can try MalwareBytes. You can use the online AV scanners
afforded by many major AV vendors.

More than likely you have spyware/malware and possibly virus residing on your
system, please clean your system of these, you can do a search on yahoo or
google to see which malware/spyware cleaner are best for you.
malwarebytes,
