How to set file permission on D: drive (CD/DVD burner)

I work in a public library, and we're trying to do a cheapo lock down of our
public computer so people can't save to the hard drive. I've learned a lot
about group policy and file permissions the past few weeks, but this has me
stumped.

This is what I set to be read-only: c:, any My Documents or Shared Documents
folders I saw under any user, and the Desktop for our public use "limited
account." The idea was, people could save to the a: drive, their flash
drives, or CD-Rs. We haven't had any problems with saving to a: or flash
drives. But when people try to save to a CD, they are getting a message about
not having privileges to do so, and to see the Administrator.

When I right-clicked the d: drive in Explorer, I didn't get the same
Security tab as I'm used to. I did find a menu choice for sharing and
security, which I went into. Even with the public limited account set for
full control, I still can't get it to save to d:.

Any ideas?

You have to make the drive NTFS. Open up command prompt (Start>run> type
CMD and then hit enter)

from the prompt type: convert D: /FS:NTFS
Reboot - it will then convert the drive to NTFS
