It cannot be done, technically. You can use some third party applications
out there to rip it out, but it breaks more things than its worth. Get rid
of the icons for it and hide it from yourself.. Then forget about it.
And as for the space you'd get back by getting rid of Internet Explorer -
save up $80 and get yourself 100+ more GB of space if it makes you feel
better. *grin*

Adding to what the others have correctly stated. You'll need IE to do
Windows updates.
