Tossed out of ie6

D

Dannie

Today I went and signed on to my online bank. I started the Bill Pay
procedure and was immediately tossed out of IE and to my desktop.

I then tried several other banks and credit card accounts and had no
problem. Went back to bank with trouble and the same thing reoccurred. Got
hold of bank tech support and they wanted to get mozilla browser downloaded.
Being unfamiliar with Mozilla I said no since I feel the problem could still
be with this bank.

Wondering how mozilla works and how one switches from one browser to
another. Would appreciate hearing from some one who has both browsers (IE#6
and Mozilla).
Thanks
Dannie

Dannie,

I work with both browsers and also have an idea I would like you to
test out. (for your online banking issues)

1. Open internet properties within IE, on the "general" tab click on
the "settings" button and then click on "view objects." Look for any
programs that seem to be related to online banking, are damaged or
names
WUWebControlClass. Delete them. (Everything in this folder is
found at C:\WINDOWS\Downloaded Program Files) Also, delete all your
temporary internet files, and delete all your temp files. Easiest way
to find the location of your temp files is to open a command prompt by
going to "run" and typing "cmd" and then typing set. You should get a
bunch of paths, you are looking for the one at the end that says either

TEMP=C:\DOCUME~1\ADMINI~1\LOCALS~1\Temp\1 or
TMP=C:\DOCUME~1\ADMINI~1\LOCALS~1\Temp\1 Delete as much as
you can out of this folder, some files are going to be in use and you
won't
be able to delete them, this is normal. Also, navigate to
C:\WINDOWS\Prefetch
and delete everything inside this folder. Restart your computer and try
again.

Firefox is downloadable here: http://www.mozilla.com/firefox/ and will
install to your desktop. You always have a choice on which browser
you would like to use as default, either browser can be launched at the

same time. The latest Internet Explorer (IE7) is downloadable here:
http://www.microsoft.com/windows/ie/default.mspx and will update IE6.

Also check my site for useful software downloads and additional
support.

You can have any number of browsers on your system, and run them all at
once. Only one can be the default though.. when you click on a link or
shortcut, the default browser will open. Firefox will let you assign IE
to open particular sites, even though Firefox is the default.
