How to open an existing web site to edit it.

I have been adding products to an existing web site for a business that had a
web site professionally designed. I bought front page hoping to be able to
edit the wording on the site. I try to open the existing site in front page
and I can't open it. I have also tried to open the back part of the site
where I am able to add/delete products. I need help. The front page book
concentrates on setting up your own web site. I only want to edit an existing
one.

Does the web site have FrontPage extensions installed? Without
extensions, use an FTP client to download the site to your PC, edit in
FrontPage, then publish back.

Quoting error messages will help to give a more appropriate answer.

In order to open or edit an online hosted site in FP
the site server (host) must have the FP Server Extensions installed
If not, you are limited to FTP of the site to your PC
and then you can open it and edit it
(and upload to server w/ FTP or in FP using FTP mode)
