I have a digital camcorder Sony DCR-HC42E. When I transfer a movie from the
camera via iLink cable (Firewire) the time and date inforamtion , which is
recorded with the movie don't appear on the screen. How can I get the time
and date of the recorded movie via Firewire cable using when I capture my
movies to my PC?
Thank you in advance

Dear Sir

Time and Date are actually part from the data that is transferred since
there are some DVD recorders such as Philips DVDR615 records the time and
date as subtitle of the produced DVD.

Hi Amin

1. I use winddv (windv.mourek.cz/) to download my files.
It breaks them into scenes and applies the date code to the name(so you
can see it easily)

2. I use dvdate to apply a watermark with a date on it to my movie when
required. It can take a bit of geting used to. Read the 'whats new' page
to identify how to move the date around the screen. This will apply
the date to the full file.

3. If I want better date control I use subtitles in MM2 (armed with the
date/time from windv) to apply a date/time to a small portion of the movie.

Hope this helps

Looking at the DVdate site I note capture flux applies a date as you
download from the camera....I havent tried this one and would not
recommend it as the date is there permanently, ie there is no copy
without the date.....but that may be what you want.
