How to get rid of persistant Norton LiveUpdate

S

Susan B.

Hi,
Along with a ton of other unwanted, unwelcome software which I had to
swallow to buy my Dell (shame on Dell), I got the Norton anti-virus. I
was able to get rid of it, but along with the av came Symantec
LiveUpdate 3.0. When I choose to remove it using the Add/Remove control
panel, I get a warning that "We have determined that you still have some
Symantec applications registered with LiveUpdate. You should not remove
LiveUpdate unless all Symantec applications have been uninstalled first.
Are you sure you want to remove LiveUpdate?"

This is a disturbing message. How the heck to I rid my system of what
Symantec claims I have so that I can get rid of every last trace of
LiveUpdate? Seems that my system still has IDS Program Updates,
Symantec Redirector, and a Symantec Common Driver; non of these appear
in my Add/Remove control panel.

Thanks so much for any help.
Regards,
Sue B

Use the Norton uninstaller, it should get rid of Live Update and the
Symantec Redirector and Driver. IDS doesn't have anything to do with
Symantec AFAIK.
