Have removed Norton but still can't receive e-mails

Hi - have removed Norton virus thing (as suggested in other posts) but still
can't receive e-mails - any suggestions? Have noticed still have "LiveUpdate
3.2 (Symantac Corporation)" in programs & this seemed to be part of the
update that Norton did - could this be why I'm still having problems? I did
try uninstalling it but get message that says "still have some Symantec
applications registered with LiveUpdate" - and should not remove LiveUpdate
unless all Symantec applications are uninstalled first. However, I don't
know what these applications are & so don't want to run the risk of screwing
up my system further. My internet provider is BT Yahoo!

Hope someone can help as I'm really beginning to wish I'd not bought a new
computer!!

Presuming that you rebooted after the uninstall..

I suggest your first move would be to try this...
http://service1.symantec.com/SUPPORT/tsgeninfo.nsf/docid/2005033108162039

Reboot, try receiving mail again.

If it doesn't work post the full error message and codes.

Sorry to be a pain - but have just been able to send an e-mail as have
changed the SMTP from 25 to 587 (as suggested in earlier post) - but would
still really appreciate it if someone could still answer my question below.

Thanks

Check again... it has already been answered at least twice.

It is indicative of just how invasive Norton is when it
requires a non standard sledgehammer to remove it.

Hah! Or a big machete.
I have no confidence in software that can't even uninstall itself properly.

Before you uninstall anything for for that matter change anything on your
computer, always do a BACKUP!
