How to automatically disconnect internet before shutting down Wind

My internet security program conflicts with the Windows shutdown: if the
internet connection is on while shutting Windows, the shutdown process hangs
when saving settings. If the internet connection was closed before shutting
down Windows, the shutdown process is successful. Also, if I remove the
internet shield program, Windows doesn't hang.

Can someone help me with these questions, please:
1) Is there possibly something wrong in my Windows registry that makes the
net connection / Windows shutdown hanging?
2) Is there any means to automate the net disconnection **when I'm shutting
down Windows?**

I already tried the Microsoft User Profile Hive Cleanup program to solve
this hanging but it didn't help.

It may be helpfull if you would name the security program.

Thanks for your response. The program is F-Secure. Before it I had the Norman
program, and no shutdown problems.
