How do I use Outlook 2000 to read AOL e-mail?

I am trying to use Outlook 2000 to read and send AOL e-mail. I have followed
the AOL Help steps (over and over again) for creating and configuring an
Outlook account and then my messages appear. However, the next time I sign
on to Outlook my messages are not there. If I delete the account and create
a new one then I will get my messages but as soon as I sign off and sign on
again the messages are gone but the account is still there. Please help.
Thanks.

Do you by any chance have Outlook set to view only unread messages?

No, current view in Outlook is set to view IMAP messages. But looking there
helped me figure out my problem... I just needed to double click on the
imap.aol.com folder to view my inbox. I didn't realize this was a folder
until now. Thanks for heading me in the right direction! I figured it was
something simple like that! sojo
