How do I replace a corrupted template in Word

I am having trouble with the blank document that opens in word. I am unable
to centre text when in landscape but it is ok in portrait. I have tried
creating a new template but how do I ask word to use that new template
instead of the old one/

If you suspect that your Normal template is corrupt, just exit Word and
rename the normal.dot file (in Word 2007 it's called normal.dotm) file; then
restart Word and a fresh copy will be created. See
