How do I keep my email on the server instead of it being downloade

I have Mircosoft Outlook 2003 on my home and work computer. I have tried
going to tools >email accounts>view or change>change>more settings> advanced
to click the box to leave a copy on the server....only i run into a problem
when i get there...that option isn't there. We use an exchange server for my
work email and i have my personal email downloaded to my computer as well
(POP3). I don't have a problem with the personal emal being downloaded, but
i need my work email to stay on the server so i can access from home and
work...i have looked everywhere for this setting but i can't find
it...someone please help me

I'll guess that you are using a pst file. If I guessed right, don't use a
pst file...revert back to Exchange mail storage. Then you can use Outlook
Web Access (OWA) to access your e-mail from home. Of course, this assumes
your IT department will support this...you can't do this without their
involvement.

You could also get into it using a VPN client to access your company network
but that gets a little more complicated than the above suggestion.

Click Tools>E-mail Accounts>Next. Examine the "Delivery new e-mail to the
following location" drop-down at the lower left. DOes it say "yourname -
Mailbox" or "Personal Folders"? If it says the latter, that's the answer.
By delivering your Exchange mail to a PST you are removing it from the
server and then your other PST can't see it because it's not there any more.
There is no way to deliver to a PST and still keep the mesages in the
Exchange mailbox. Change the delivery location to the Exchange mailbox.

OK...if you already have a working VPN connection, you just need to do two
things. The first is to get help from your IT department to (as mentioned in
my first post) move from the pst message store to an Exchange message store.
The second thing to do is to add an Exchange account to Outlook on your home
PC. You will likely need the help of your IT department for this as well.

What you want to do can be done...the key is to no longer use the pst store
and to seek the help of your IT folks.

Personally, I think the Outlook Web Access is easier to get to work. Then
you have the added flexibility of being able to access your work e-mail from
not only your home PC but *any* PC with an internet connection. Very helpful
if you travel frequently. Ask your IT department to see if they support it.
