How do I grant users access to TCP/IP properties? I currently am in
charge of setting up laptops for clients who travel. I've had a few
instances where hotels/convention centers require the user to enter
TCP/IP properties (static IP) to gain internet access. However, even if
I assign the user to the "Power Users" group they still get that
annoying error message.
I don't want to give the traveling user accoutn administrative rights
for various reasons, but I can't seem to find any GPO or ADM template
that would enable these settings. I've looked for the EXE that brings
up the network properites, but am not sure what it is. None of the
"Network" settings in "gpedit.msc" nor "Computer Management" allow this
option to be enabled.
This wasn't a problem with Windows XP SP1, but since I've update all of
our laptops we've had this issue.
If anyone has any ideas it would be greatly appreciated.
