How determine if I have a DVI-D video support card ?

I would like to add a a new monitor to my Dimentions 2400
pentium 4 PC. The current monitor is a VGA monitor.

How can I determine if my PC will support the DVI-D feature of a new monitor.

The new monitor can support both VGA and DVI-D but i would like to take
advantage of the better DVI-D features

Does the computer's video device have a DVI-D port?

If not - even using an adapter to go from VGA to DVI will not give you what
you want.

Plus - what do you mean by "DVI-D feature"? 2560x1600 resolution maybe?

With the level of that particular PC - I would doubt it "as-is".

That's dependant on your video card, the newer ones have DVI as an output,
you may need to buy the proper cable from your video card to your monitor.

Look at the back of your PC do you see something like this?

If yes then you can if not, then you need a new Video card that supports it

If you do this, we will know enough about your system to generate
usable answers/suggestions:

Click Start, Run and in the box enter:

msinfo32

Click OK, and when the System Summary info appears, click Edit, Select
All, Copy and then paste
the information back here.

There will be some personal information (like System Name and User
Name), and whatever appears to
be private information to you, just delete it from the pasted
information.

For video driver information, expand the Components, click Display,
click Edit, Select All,
Copy and then paste the information.
