dvi monitor problems

I'm having trouble getting the dvi connection to work on my hp media center
2004 pc, m380n to work with my hp f2105 monitor I just bought. The analog
connection works ok, but I'd like to take advantage of the dvi. I've found
that the dvi port on the nvidia ge force 5200 card has a dual link dvi-i
connection and the monitor has a single link dvi-d connection. I've tried
updating the driver and changing all the settings, but all i get is a black
screen. The driver is seeing the monitor, but has no picture. I am using the
single link dvi cable that came with the monitor. Is there anything I can do
besides buying a new graphics card with a dvi-d connection or a new monitor
with a dvi-i connection?

I'm using the dvi-d cable that came with the monitor. A dvi-i cable would
have too many pins to plug into the monitor.
